Three Paws, Nine Lives – Cat Turns Tragedy
Into Triumph
When Henry was rescued, his left front leg dangled uselessly from his shoulder. Only an emergency amputation could save his life. Since Henry was an outdoor mountain cat, he "belonged" to no one; this should have been the end of his story. Instead, he moved to La Jolla, California and became an inspiration to many.
Henry’s World tells of an intrepid tripod cat who wins the hearts of two self-avowed "dog people." Inspired by Henry’s resilience and zest for life, they shared his adventures via email with a few friends. In eight months, Henry’s email folder
had swelled to 2000 letters from around the world. Henry’s new "e-mail" paw pals teach him much, and many confide in him their own setbacks and tales of survival.
Henry’s world is a story not just about a cat but about all of us - about trust, community, courage, and resiliency. It is about prejudice and overcoming it, coming to love what we thought we hated, enemies becoming friends, and challenges becoming learning experiences. Henry’s stories seek to tell you, through the eyes of an innocent creature, what our world looks like to an outsider. He is able to see the absurdity in things we take for granted. Henry’s World is about how we survive our wounds, about transforming tragedy into possibility. Foremost, it is about life as a new adventure. [Related News Article]

Henry is
always looking for a place that he can continue to make a
difference to people
in need. He has just started a new project called the Just
Me Project. It will be a project that reaches out to
children in need wherever they are. Henry is pleased that
already, 2000 of his books and workbooks have gone to the
families of our wounded heroes coming back from Iraq and
Afghanistan. His workbook invites children to work through
many of their feelings around the woundedness of their

Goes to Church Henry
was a huge success at the UCC Church where Mom Cathy did a sermon on him and
what he is here to teach us. The congregation was wonderfully welcome, he sold
many books, and now has a new following who urge him to continue on his "ministry."
Henry was more than patient as dozens of hands wanted to hold and pet this
remarkable prince of peace. Everybody loved him and the forty cookies that he
brought with him. He was particularly pleased that his very own singer, Gayle
St. Gregory was able to come and sing his songs Just Me and Winners All.
It was a good day for Henry spreading the word to help heal humans and reach out
to animals everywhere. When the minister read the passage that said humans
would have dominion of all creatures, Henry meowed loudly reminding all that he has dominion over his world. [View Pictures]

La Jolla Elementary School Brownie Troop First
to Meet and Greet Henry
Henry thought it was just going to be one of his regular days. He played, got treats, napped and then napped again for good measure. As he lay in a ray of afternoon sunlight, the door opened and in walked 11 of the cutest girls he had ever seen. They were the Brownie troop, all of whom had read his book and wanted to meet this extraordinary cat.
He accommodated them all by allowing himself to be held, kissed, and photographed with each Brownie. They petted him, asked questions about him, and said they would bring his story to their friends at their school and elsewhere. All the books that the troop sells will allow them to give all the profits above printing costs to local animal causes and learn more about what these agencies do.
The afternoon ended with a surprise visit from Henry’s girlfriend, two-legged dachshund Tink, her sister, three-legged Tyler, and of course Dolly dog, the black poodle. All were greeted warmly and loved on by the girls. The afternoon ended with smiling girls each of whom got a Henry cookie in a bag with his picture, brought as a surprise by one of the troop Moms. Henry hopes that this is just the beginning. Click here to see pictures from that special afternoon.
If you asked his readers they would tell you that nothing is wrong with Henry. But don't take their word for it, read for yourself. Henry's new book has been so popular that we have now sold out of the second edition. The NEW and EXPANDED third edition is now available and includes a bonus section in the back of the book:
"Kibble for Thought" and "Homework for Humans." These two new sections make the new book an interactive experience for the reader. With that said, you will have to check out the new sections to experience for yourself.
If you have already purchased your book, but would like to experience these new sections, you're in luck. Henry has decided to incorporate the new sections into an oversized postcard mailer that is available in our store.

Meet My Girlfriend Tink
An adorable two-legged Dachshund, and Henry's new love interest. Mom Cathy was first introduced to Tink when here mom attended a lecture that Mom Cathy was giving at UCSD. Henry did not get to attend the lecture with Mom, but that was okay because she brought home a few pictures of Tink to show Henry. From the first glance Henry was smitten by cupids arrow. Henry asked politely if Tink could come for a visit and of course Mom Cathy couldn't say no to such an adorable face. Soon after, Tink and Henry finally were given their opportunity to meet, nose-to-nose. Find out more about Tink on her own page and read the rest of the story.

Help Henry Help Children
Life takes one in
many different directions, so I have learned. I started out
telling a few of my Mom’s friends about my “adventures.” Here it
is a few years later and Mom has written over 25,000 letters for
me, and has the wrist brace to prove it.
Well, here is what is happening now. I didn't know that there were so many children who do not have any books of their own. There are also millions of kids who lost their books in the hurricane; the books all blew away. I had only been thinking of helping the animals in New Orleans and the surrounding coast, but my Moms said that all those children need a story of hope, because now hope is in short supply in the destroyed areas. Along with her were Mom Cathy, his administrator Brian, Duke, the service dog and other friends to help in giving out Henry’s book. [See More Pictures]
Tyler was a huge hit. She let herself be petted and held by hundred’s of children before she got so tired she went into a deep sleep. The children loved the books and asked many questions about Henry. There were people from KCBQ AM 1170 who interviewed us, and plan to come back for another interview. A good time was had by all. It was a great prelude to the BIG EVENT at the Scottish Rite Temple
on June 28, 2007.
A "Tail" of Two Books (Reviewed)
When Henry started
his adventures a few years ago he never imagined that his
stories would enable him to help so many other animals and
people. His stories have touched the lives and hearts of many
and he has come to represent hope for those who face adversity
in their own lives. Henry has responded to all the thousands of
emails, showing that he is a HANDY CAT not a handicapped cat.
This week Henry would like to share what two people thought of
his books.
PETroglyphs.org is an award-winning publication focused on community education for animal welfare in New Mexico. Last week, PETroglyphs reviewed What's the Matter With Henry? and encouraged their readers to
read the book: "Do yourself a favor and read this book. Buy copies for your animal loving friends and donate it to your local library." The reviewer
concludes: "This is a winner. Henry’s optimism and can-do spirit will make you smile and provide a lesson for all of us."
Animal Wellness Magazine heralds Henry's first book,
Henry's World, as
"amusing, touching and insightful, this charming book touches on
values important to all of us: trust, love, community, and the
courage to turn life's challenges into creative experiences."
